Emma is an exceptional physiotherapist who balances professionalism with a very friendly, warm
personality. The concern she has for my wellbeing is genuine and, in addition to the secure,
welcoming environment, generates a high level of trust which has enabled much of the progress I
have made. Having had back problems for over ten years and trying a number of practitioners, I

I have been attending Stott Pilates Reformer Classes with Chrissy for about 5 years in total. I did
3 years and then gave up as I took up the “job” of caring for my two lovely granddaughters for
2 days a week! After a year I realized I needed to go back and take advantage of Chrissy’s
expertise – not only in teaching Reformer, but in her huge knowledge of the body. I cannot
express how Chrissy’s wonderful teaching is helping me maintain my inner core strength,

Emma Ross has been teaching me at her Pilates and reformer classes for over four years and
always provides a clear, calm approach to the exercise routines. Her skill in understanding the
needs of everyone in her class is second to none and whilst she has a programme planned for a
class, she makes sure that you get the individual attention you need to ensure that you are in the
correct alignment for each exercise. Emma begins each class by checking with each person what
particular area they wish to focus on and goes from a good warm up routine to exercises which
gradually build up into a class that benefits everyone. Due to Fibromyalgia, I constantly suffer with
stiff and painful joints. Emma's classes have kept me supple and taught me that by good posture
and strengthening my core muscles I can maintain an element of fitness that I would not have
believed possible a few years ago. I have also been able to reduce the volume of painkillers I was
taking on a regular basis. Emma is always available to help 'out of hours' if you need help and
advice and never fails to deliver a professional and caring service to all her clients. I can only say
that if you need a long term solution to painful mobility problems then try one of her classes. You
will not be disappointed and will never walk out of one of Emma's classes feeling worse than you
did when you arrived.

I developed a back problem due to being hyper-mobile and doing the wrong type of exercise. It got
so bad I was finding it painful to walk let alone do any exercise. Chrissys’ knowledge of Pilates and
excellent instruction has got me back to full fitness again. The pain has gone, I do less exercise and
my body shape has changed - for the better. She understands everyone's different needs in the
class and is able to cater for everyone individually whilst still maintaining a flow. I love the way my
body feels after a class with Chrissy,energised, aligned, stretched, firmer. I feel very lucky to be able
to attend one of Chrissy's classes - she is genuinely passionate about Pilates and her knowledge of
the human body is immense. Having done Pilates on and off over the past 15 years I can honestly
say Chrissy is by far the best instructor I have ever had.

I damaged a disc in my lower spine and had chiropractic manipulation every few months for about
20 years; this treatment eased the consequences of the damaged disc but did noting to avoid
recurring difficulties.

4 years ago I read an article by Emma Ross a local physiotherapist and Pilates instructor and made
an appointment to see her.

Like the chiropractor Emma confirmed there was very little that could be done to repair the
damaged disc but she suggested Pilates as a method of strengthening the body as a whole and
specifically around the damaged and weakened area surrounding my lower spine.

I started mat based Pilates with Emma in 2006; I have continued with weekly Pilates and also added
Stott Reformer Pilates (again through Miss Ross) to my exercise program.

There has been a definite and distinct improvement to my posture, overall flexibility and a
considerable reduction of aches, pains and back spasms emanating from my lower spine.

I have no doubt that Pilates (which is physically harder than might be apparent) has substantially
improved my wellbeing. I have no hesitation in recommending Pilates or Emma as an instructor.

Chrissy has been teaching me 1:1 Pilates for the last 2 years. I have known her for 4 years and
initially she taught me group mat classes. My fundamental problems concern my back. I had back
surgery 13 years ago and up until 5 years ago had been managing it through exercise, whilst
remaining in various levels of pain. However after the birth of my second child I had constant pain.
Whilst taking advice from various medical specialists and managing my pain with medication and
cortisone injections they suggest I try careful exercise. I started with mat work Pilates and swimming
but that only aggravated things. People could not accurately identify the problem, or isolate the
reasons, either neural, muscle or structure and thus give me a definitive answer to the problem. It
was 2 years ago that my pain specialist began to identify what was going on and then I decided to
try 1:1 Stott Pilates. This structured and highly managed approach has re taught my muscles how
to work properly built up good core stability and has enabled my body to work how it should. The
years of pain meant that my body had compensated so much that movement patterns where all
wrong and this was placing more pressure on my spine.

Chrissy is first class on a technical level. I have a very good understanding of my issues, and she
firstly took time to understand them, but then built a bespoke program which surpassed anything,
anyone, had done previously. Yet apart from a superb technical understanding, she has an
empathy with people who have been in the depths of despair (having had specialists scratching
their heads) which is very reassuring! Her ‘people skills’ are excellent. In the time I have known her
I have managed to get control of my back, both physically in terms of pain, and mentally, which is
credit to her.

The studio and equipment at Hedge End Golf Centre and Pilates Studio are fantastic, well looked
after and the staff friendly.

I would not hesitate to recommend her, she is thoroughly professional with a personal touch, and
continues to be a crucial part of my overall wellbeing.
